Welcome! My name is Rachel and I am a musician and a personal trainer living in Santa Barbara, CA. Oddly enough I came to fitness through music. Like so many instrumentalists, I have experienced more than my fair share of playing-related injuries (tendonitis, nerve impingements, thoracic outlet syndrome, a herniated cervical disc, continually subluxated ribs.) I tried everything to fix my problems. I talked to many doctors, physical therapists, chiropractors, Rolfers, acupuncturists, yogis, and more. No one had satisfactory answers. In fact, many of them didn’t take my problem seriously. They were more interested in hearing me play pretty music when I met with them. After 9 months off from playing and finishing my bachelors, I decided to take charge. I began a long, arduous journey to understand more about the body and get myself out of pain.
As a performer, I have played with world-renown musicians of many different styles, from classical flautist, James Galway to latin popstar, Marc Antonio Solis. Check out my performance website: Rachel White Galvin, violist/violinist
As an athlete, I danced for 9 years, and still continue to take ballet classes from time to time. I fell in love with CrossFit in 2009, and have had a foot in that world ever since. CrossFit led me down the rabbit hole of learning new movement modalities. I’ve dabbled in boxing, Aikido, Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, kettlebells, gymnastics, yoga, Pilates, Gyrontonics, and more.
As a trainer, I have worked with not only musicians, but former Olympians, Olympic hopefuls, as well as those preparing for the Marine Corps and those just wanting to feel better in their own skin. Check out my blog and services!
As a music teacher, I have taught all ages and types of students. From 5 years old to 70. From those just wanting to learn a little about the wonderful world of music, to those wanting to pursue careers in performance. Check out my studio website: Galvin Studios!
